Lara and James’ home in Haslemere underwent a stunning transformation with a large, carefully designed extension to their 1970s house. Their vision was clear: to create an open plan living, kitchen, and dining area that would seamlessly blend together, perfect for their family with two young children. The heart of this transformation is a handmade, bespoke in-frame kitchen painted in a rich navy - a timeless choice with a contemporary yet welcoming tone.
The kitchen features a bank of tall cabinets that offer plenty of storage, including one of our signature larder cupboards placed to the left of the Fisher and Paykel fridge freezer. To the right of the fridge, a bifold dresser sits elegantly on the worktop, adding both style, storage and function to the space.
One of the key features of this kitchen that makes the design such a success is the faux chimney. Built between two windows, it provides character to the space and a natural home for the range cooker. Rather than placing the sink on the island, we decided to keep the island clear and position the under mounted stainless steel sink to the right of the range cooker. This decision not only optimised the layout but also ensured that the island remained free of appliances, allowing it to serve as the true centrepiece of the design. The island is ideal for socialising, with seating on both sides, making it perfect for long weekend breakfasts and family gatherings. Additionally, a comfortable window seat provides a cosy spot for quiet moments.
The worktop is made from 30mm thick Santorini quartz, with a matt honed finish, which adds a touch of luxury while remaining understated and practical. Every detail in the kitchen has been carefully considered, from the polished chrome cup handles and knobs to the solid oak dovetail drawer boxes that showcase the exceptional craftsmanship and quality to the design.
With its bespoke design, thoughtful layout, and high-end finishes, Lara and James’s kitchen is a perfect blend of style and function, creating a space where they can cook, entertain, and spend time together as a family. This bespoke contemporary kitchen is not just a space for cooking; it’s a space for living.
